In 16th Century England, a young apothecary is sent to the Far East to bring back rare herbs. In Goa, he discovers a powder which can resurrect the dead. As he tries to find its source, he is arrested and tortured by the local inquisitor who wants the powder to prolong the pain of victims who die too early.
