Despite its importance in all theological discussion on the doctrine of infallibility, Gasser's relatio had never until now been translated from the Latin original into English. The relatio reveals a mind which is logical in its process and fully acquainted with the historical and theological aspects of the question. The last chapter of this book is arranged so that it can be used as a type of "study guide" to the relatio.
